Yesterday we had about 15 votes for yes - the LFA is good enough for it's silly price, and about 13 votes for no - the price was too damn high.
Today I ask, nay demand to know who's the boss? of Top Gear. Let's keep it to post 2002, actually screw it pick you're favorite all time (non UK included).
Is it A) Jeeza
B) the Hamster
C) Captain Slow
D) the Stig
E) Jason Dawes...lol

You forgot Tiff and Vicky.

This one.

There is no right answer. Taken alone they are none of them as good as they are together. I particularly like the James/Jeremy dynamic.

B.

I'm going to limit it to 2002-onwards
Edit - pick whoever, and include humorous gif too

May. For Real.

Assuming he meant new-format TG.

Jeremy Clarkson.

May is my favorite. Have you watched Man Lab? I like that show, and he's great on it.
Personally, I'd like to see May do more reviews.
I probably rank May, Hamster, Jezza, but I find Jezza to be the most entertaining.

if i was FORCED to choose one, I would also pick May.

I figured, but one must be specific.
![]() 01/08/2014 at 14:49 |

That's a good point, but for the sake of this kind of comparison, consider how they individually review cars and host segments

I'd say the current trio are at the top, but I couldn't pick any one of them. It's the chemistry that makes it brilliant. If any one of them presented it on their own, it just wouldn't be Top Gear.

Noting that all three are vital for the magic the show has, I have to go with Clarkson. He pairs better with both Hammond (than May) and May (than Hammond), and he is the most entertaining on his own.
![]() 01/08/2014 at 14:55 |

May
Jezza
Hamster

The british one.

Clarkson. There is no question
![]() 01/08/2014 at 15:02 |

May for the win.
Runner up, Tanner Foust.
![]() 01/08/2014 at 15:07 |

Well, it surely can't be Tanner.
![]() 01/08/2014 at 15:08 |

May, solely based on the Veyron top speed run.
Non-TG host: Matt, Vicki, Tiff in that order.

I don't think there is one that I really like more because they each kind of do a different job. Clarkson brings the POWER! and hairbrained ideas, May is great for actual info and he is actually probably one of the most quick witted out of the lot. Hammond is like a halfway between Jeremy and James. If I had to pick on the show, I would say Jeremy is my favorite but off Top Gear it is May by a long way, a lot of May's other shows are really enjoyable.

I can't pick. I guess Jezza but it's their chemistry that makes the show so great. My girlfriend hates car shows but can sit and watch TG with my for hours because they're so fucking funny together. It's why the US show does nothing for, even though I like Tanner and Rut.

James May it is.

The man, the myth, the legend. Jeremy Charles Robert Clarkson.
![]() 01/08/2014 at 15:28 |

I agree.
![]() 01/08/2014 at 15:31 |

May. By far.
Hammond and Jezza take the whole act a bit too far lately. May is too pedantic to play too much of a character. His actual character always shines through.
![]() 01/08/2014 at 15:51 |

May.
I find it funny that 'Captain Slow' has gone the fastest, and flown the highest out of them all.
![]() 01/08/2014 at 15:52 |

Yes. Sabine has it going on.
And how about some love for the Stig?

F) Sabine

May is the best presenter, but Clarkson is the most essential to the show.
![]() 01/08/2014 at 16:46 |
|
James: that's a question, right?
In all seriousness, I think Jeremy and James dynamic is the most entertaining. Right up there with Tiff and Jason on Fifth Gear.

"I tell you something, I do that lap time in a van".
Because Clarkson needs to be put in his place at times.

Definitely May.
"Fags, gin, porn mags- that sort of thing."

Jeremy is not amused.

Jeeza, come on now.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jeremy_Cl…
In April 2007, he was criticised in the Malaysian parliament for having described one of their cars, the Perodua Kelisa , as the worst in the world, "its name was like a disease and suggested it was built in jungles by people who wear leaves for shoes". A Malaysian government minister countered, pointing out that no complaints had been received from UK customers who had bought the car.

Duh.

it's his shirts I like
![]() 01/08/2014 at 18:48 |

I can't pick!
All right, all right.
Clarkson is the most entertaining, but my favorite is Hammond because, well, I can't exactly tell you. I do appreciate May's technicality though.
![]() 01/08/2014 at 20:56 |
|
I could never put my finger of who was my favorite. Clarkson gets a little too vain, hamster is cool, but I see May as the 50 year old version of myself. This was made certain in this 1 second gif.
![]() 01/08/2014 at 22:17 |

Tough choice between Clarkson and May, but I'd give my nod to Clarkson. He really is very good when he wants to be, just check out his war films (The PQ17 one came out just a few days ago). Pity that Top Gear tends to typecast him into his big oaf role.
![]() 01/08/2014 at 22:18 |

Hammond was going a fair bit faster when he crashed.
![]() 01/08/2014 at 22:46 |
|
True, 288 mph (463 km/h).
But James May was up in an Lockheed U-2 which has a Cruise speed of 373 knots.
(Mach 0.56, 429 mph, 690 km/h).
I'm assuming they at least hit that.
![]() 01/09/2014 at 00:53 |

May, because he reminds me so damn much of my grandpa.
![]() 01/09/2014 at 10:27 |

I find that May gives a more straightforward, informative review whereas Clarkson is there for entertainment value and can be serious when he wants to be

If you're gonna bring up passenger rides, Hammond has gone in an English-Electric Lightning (Mach 2). Clarkson in an F15 (Mach 2.5).
Hammond's ride was specifically to push the Lightning to it's speed and altitude ceilings.
![]() 01/11/2014 at 20:23 |

Hammond has just been a caricature of himself for years now, getting more annoying.

Stef, the Stig is a necessary objective element when looking at the cars' performance (and a crazy-awesome time to beat in any of the major challenge episodes), but he doesn't have the same humor as the presenters themselves—of course, he can't, because the fantastic running gag relies on him never speaking.
